Ice on Baikal shore

By now (late April) the lake's ice was beginning to thaw.
Baikal is a lake of superlatives being the world's deepest and holding about 20% of our planet's fresh water.
80% of its plant and animal life is unique to the lake, including its own fish and its own freshwater seal.
The water is incredibly pure and local tapwater supplies here and in Irkutsk are, allegedly and unusually for Russia, fit to drink.
