| Trans-Mongolian Train We travelled from Irkutsk to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia on the weekly Trans-Mongolian service from Moscow to Beijing. Train 4, its official name, takes six days for the whole run, we were on board for about 26 hours. Departure from Irkutsk was at 0543 local time and the dark platform was almost empty.
