Kashgar

Kashgar is about as far west as you can go In China. Here you are as far west as Delhi, the predominant faith is Islam, the language is Uighur. Food and faces are Central Asian rather than oriental. China has only one time zone, officially that is, Kashgar keeps to its own time two hours behind Beijing. Its situation where several major trade routes through the mountains of the Tienshan, Pamirs and Himalayas meet mean it has a long diplomatic, cultural and commercial history. We liked Kashgar with its mixture of new and old in a pleasant, friendly city.
