Lake Karakul

After lunch we went for a walk along the lake shore while our guide and driver caught up on their beauty sleep.
At 12000 feet we found ourselves not so much breathless as slowing down rapidly on even the slightest gradient.
Abdullah, our guide, on hearing that this was our first experience of altitude insisted on bringing an oxygen bag for the journey up.
This was a sort of jumbo whoopee cushion which had to have its pressure frequently released in case it burst as the road climbed.
