Awat Market

Kashgar is famed for its Sunday Market which attracts thousands of local people, and tourists. The fact that it is on the dreaded 'must-see' lists of so many tourists gave us little incentive to go, and anyway we were not going to arrive until Monday. Abdullah, our guide, suggested we might go to see a more traditional but much smaller rural market at a nearby town called Awat. We did, and it was one of the highlights of the trip.
