Salar de Uyuni

These salt flats are the world's largest and consist of a crust of salt several metres thick floating on a lake consisting of a saturated solution of salt and other minerals. In the wet season the surface is covered by water but few tour companies will operate on the salar then because of corrosion in their vehicles.
