Isle of Man

Churches and Crosses Index

C5th Celtic missionaries brought Christianity to the Isle of Man and built tiny keeils across the island. Christian burials were marked with crosses. When parishes were established in the C12th, the parish church was often built on the site of an early keeil. Crosses found in the local area are displayed in some of the older churche around the island.
