Classical Tour of Albania
A display of artefacts from the site with some wonderful
C7th and C6th BC pottery
museum is in a series of first floor rooms along another of
the monastery walls
It has a wonderful display of artefacts found from the site and surrounding area dating from the C7th BC to the late Roman period when the site was abandoned. There are a few small signs in both Albanian and English. This is one of the few museums that allows photography.
I was particularly impressed by the pottery dating from the C7th and C6th BC. The decoration on some pieces was amazing.
These pots are C5th BC.
There are examples of Roman glass and pottery, including oil lamps and amphorae.
There are also examples of carved monumental masonry, like this statue of Artemis and the carving of a lion hunt.
