Héradsflói

Héradsflói is a wide bay in north-east Iceland dominated by the hills of Ósfjöll in the east and Fagradalsfjöll in the west. Both these ranges have roads over them which are perhaps best described as exciting. We drove both these roads in one day from Eigilsstadir. The day was not good and degenerated into a bad evening. Eleanor was freaked out by
Highway 917 across Hellisheidi and refused to be driven back over it, so the alternative was the long way round on Highway 85. This road is soon to be improved (read has not any maintenance recently) and was very slow.
