Blesle
Further north in the Alagnon Valley this small town has a history dating back to Gallo-Roman times. A C9th nunnery became wealthy and a town grew up round it, later acquiring a ch‰teau built by the powerful de Mercoeur family. It has many interesting buildings but on a dull, dead Saturday lunchtime it was a bit spooky, especially as a local 'character' kept following us on his bike.
