On a very damp morning we headed east but found the local morning rush traffic too impatient for our liking in the very dull, misty conditions. We decided to head for Montfaucon-en-Velay to find a baker and have a look round until things (hopefully) improved. A rather plain town, but while exploring we came across Chapelle Notre-Dame de Montfaucon which looked uninspiring from the outside but the door sported a notice about an exhibition of paintings by the Flemish artist Abel Grimer dating from 1592. These proved to be fascinating.
