Kostroma - St Ipaty Monastery

Like other Golden Ring towns Kostroma was a major centre in medieval Russia. For some time it produced the world's finest linen and also saw the emergence of the Romanov dynasty. Its position on the Volga and local routes caused it to become a significant trading and industrial centre.
