Rostov - Kremlin

Rostov Veliky (also known as Rostov the Great) is one of Russia's oldest towns and came to have enormous religious and political power in the C13th. When its political significance waned it retained its importance in the Russian church until the C18th. The town is now small and dominated by the large Kremlin built by Metropolitan Jonah between 1660 and 1690.
