extensive nature of New Zealand's forests meant that after clearance
there were no local flowers to colonise the cleared land.
Many species were brought from Europe (or the Canary Islands in this
case) and some - like this - have become invasive.
This was in a layby on the Governor's Bay road to the west of Lyttelton.
